MPI IAP Contributions for “Travel Only” Days

From the AMPTP: "During the 2024 IATSE Basic Agreement negotiations and 2024 Basic Crafts negotiations, the bargaining parties agreed that “pension and health” contributions would be paid for a “travel only” day on the basis of the employee’s actual travel time with a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours. See the excerpt below with regard to the Local 44, Local 80, Local 600, Local 695, Local 700, Local 728 and Local 729 Agreements. (Language in the IATSE Videotape Agreement, the other IATSE West Coast Studio Local Agreements, and the Basic Crafts Agreements largely mirrors this language.)

It was recently brought to the AMPTP’s attention that you may have previously received notices from the MPI Plans stating that no IAP contributions are due for “travel only” days.  However, language in the MPI Trust Agreements approved by the MPI Board of Directors following the 2024 negotiations clearly requires that IAP contributions be paid for “travel only” days, effective August 4, 2024.

By issuing this notice, the AMPTP is affirming that IAP contributions, along with pension and health contributions, are due for “travel only” days, effective August 4, 2024. Please instruct the appropriate persons at your company to make the necessary corrections, if any, regarding IAP contributions for “travel only” days for employees employed under the 2024 IATSE Basic Agreement (and the West Coast Studio Local Agreements), the 2024 IATSE Videotape Agreement, and the 2024 Basic Crafts Agreements."
